Green Living: What Does It All Really Mean?
Everyone’s talking about ‘going green.’ We hear it everywhere. Food, furniture, fabrics – so many are labeled ‘sustainable’ and ‘environmentally friendly’ and ‘organic.’ But what does it all really mean?
They all have to do with taking care of our planet, but their meanings are slightly different. In short, ‘green’ initiatives are products that are manufactured with environmental impact in mind; they must be recyclable or earth-friendly when they are disposed. ‘Sustainable’ products are those that minimize the impact on the environment at each phase of its life cycle. ‘Organics’ are products – plants or animals – that have not been touched by pesticides or other chemicals and contain 100 percent organically-produced ingredients, not counting the addition of water and salt to foods.
We’re all doing our part to try to make the world a better place for our children – in what we make, in what we wear, in what we eat. We hope this issue of Gerber Childrenswear’s Preferred Parent Newsletter gives you some smart and easy-to-implement ideas on how you can embrace green living, too.
